I love Wii!

Whoever has played the wii before can totally relate to me when I say that I love it!  For those of you who know my husband, he really likes anything electronic, so if there is something new out ( iphone, computers, PSP, Nintendo DS, etc.) he probably has it.  I must admit that the wii is probably one of his only purchases that I am really happy about!  My favorite game is for sure Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.  There are these really freaky little bunnies that crack me up, and you pretty much just play mini games against each other.  Our newest game is kind of targeted for a younger audience, but is still a lot of fun.  It's called Carnival games, so you are playing all the games you would at a carnival, like knocking down jugs of milk, throwing a football through a hoop, or tossing rings onto bottle tops.  The sport games are fun as well...I can totally beat Matt down at boxing!  The games that we have are nice and light...nothing serious like Halo.  I have such an issue with that game...maybe it's because every time I ever play it I get my guy stuck in some corner.  I guess that's why I like the wii so much.  It's easy, you can play it with your kids, and you don't kill aliens the whole time!  My girls really like it too!  Lauren has had to say to me quite a few times "Mom, it doesn't matter if you win.  You need to play nice."  So, sadly, my girls are keeping Matt and mine's competitive nature in line. I think I've kind of become a nerd for some of these games.  Thank goodness we don't have a ton of time for them, because I think I would completely waste my day away!  Some of our friends also have Rock Band, which I think is the best game ever!  It's so addicting!!  Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics of us being nerds playing our various games!

A Little Restless...

I think I've been inside a little too long.  I'm still sick, and I'm getting restless!  So, while Lauren was at dance class today Reese and I decided to play on the computer and we got some excellent photos of ourselves!  Yes, I know I look really pretty. And yes, it's 4:30 in the afternoon and Reese's hair is still not fixed, but hey, I'm still sick, and at least we did all shower!
If anyone has a Mac, you'll know about the hours of fun you can have on photo booth.  Matt and I have literally spent hours on it trying to
see who can make the ugliest pictures.  My girls seem to really like it too!  Some of them can get dang freaky looking, but the uglier they are the better!

Sick Day!!

The last 3 days I've been pretty darn sick!!!!  Thank goodness I don't get sick very much, but when I do, it hits hard!!  I went to insta-care last night and they tested me for strep and the flu, but I was negative for both... yippee!  If anyone has been tested for the flu, I would love to hear your story.  They stick this really long q-tip up your nose, and it literally feels like it's in your eyeball... still gives me the creeps!  So, I'm on some medicine now and I think it's starting to help.  The doctor told me this can last up to 10-14 days... seriously??  Anyway, I've been cooped up inside the last few days, but I kind of like it. It's kind of fun to not feel guilty about not getting ready or cleaning and all that fun stuff!  Anyway, thanks for letting me vent... it's amazing how these dumb sicknesses can completely knock you out.  Thank goodness Matt and my parents have been helping me, or I might have gone crazy!

Reflection on Gratitude

So, I have thought a lot about gratitude today.  We talked about it in church and it's been on my mind.  So, I got to thinking about all the things I have to be grateful for.  The list was endless and I realized that I need to be a lot more grateful for what I have.  Obviously, my family was at the top of the list.  Luckily I was able to marry my very bestest friend!  I totally married up!  I don't think I could have designed anyone more perfect for me.  Also, I have 2 really cool little girls.  They really are pretty neat.  Lauren is such a helpful, smart, and talented girl.  Reese is such a sweetheart that's always happy and makes everyone laugh.  They love each other so much and get along so well.  They are so beautiful and they make it really fun and pretty easy to be a mom.  Now, my goal is to let those people around me feel the way I think about them.  I'm a pretty lucky girl!
Oh, I also have a really cute puppy, named Puppy.  Who could ask for more???

Makeover!!

So, I got my hair done yesterday.  Before I went it was the usual thought process of what am I going to do to my hair.  My natural color is a very bland, kind of yucky light brown.  Ever since my senior year I have been highlighting it to help boost the color a bit.  I've been very blonde, but usually just kind of an in the middle color.  Anyway, Matt and I were talking the night before my appointment and he said he thought I should do something daring...either go way blonde or way dark.  So here's the hard part...I've always wanted to go way dark, but it's quite scary to do something so drastic.  Also, lately I keep seeing really cute blonde hair, so there's the dilemma.    My friend Amber does my hair, so as we started talking about what to do, we decided that we know what I look like blonde, why not try out dark?  Things like this are always scary for me, but I decided to take the plunge!  So, now I've got dark brown hair.  The first time I saw it, I wasn't completely shocked, so I take that as a good sign.  I actually think I'm going to like it...it just might take a little getting used to.  Every time I see myself in the mirror I take a double take!  Anyway, let me know what you think.  If you don't like it, say it in the most gentle way possible :).
By the way, it looks a little darker in the pictures.

I got tagged!

So, my friend Aleesha blog tagged me.  This may be a little hard for me because my first post I told 5 things about me.  I don't think I have that many interesting things left, but I'll give it a go!

Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1.  I wore head gear every night for about a year when I was in high school.  My brother Adam had a hay day teasing me about it.

2.  I often cry when I see the elderly, especially if it is a cute old guy.  I'm not sure why, I guess I have a soft spot for old people.

3.  Matt and I dated 2 weeks before we got engaged, then were married 4 months later. (To my defense, I knew Matt in high school, and we were best friends for about 8 months before we started dating.)

4.  I broke my collar bone when I was 6 while I was wrestling with my brother Chris...I fell off the bed and he landed right on me.

5.  I thought the Vice President of the United States was Gorbachev when I was a sophomore in high school.  :)

6. In my teenage years I owned up to 11 pet rats at one time.  I usually only had 3 at a time that were always named Jenner, Nichademis, and Flea.  They are so cute and really nice.  They used to give me kisses on my nose, and crawl through my sleeves up to my shoulder and just sit there.

7.  When I was a freshman my friends and I had a job where we would place temperature stickers on bottles for people to pee into while they were at the doctors office.

After looking at what I just wrote, I realize it makes me sound a little odd...that's okay!  Now I'm supposed to tag 7 other people.  This will be difficult as well, because Aleesha took some of mine, so I'm only going to do a few.

So, I am tagging...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

So, I'm about half way through reading "Eat, Pray, Love". Despite the fact that there have been some swear words in the book, I am really enjoying it. Elizabeth Gilbert does a great job at telling her story. Anyway, at the point I am at in the book she has been talking about meditation. I have always been interested in trying to meditate, but never knew how to go about it, and to be honest my ego told me there was something silly about the whole thing. She does a great job of explaining it in her book, and has given me that extra push to try it out. Interestingly enough, Matt has also been looking into meditation and recently purchased the book "Getting In The Gap" which is a book on meditation. A couple of days ago we thought it would be interesting to try it out together. We ended up bursting into hysterical laughter and couldn't stop. I think meditation might be something I have to do on my own :).
In the book, it says that the average mind has 60,000 thoughts a day, and meditation is a way of clearing out and organizing the chaos in our lives. The small amount of knowledge that I have about meditation has led me to believe that it provides a great way to create peace and stillness in our lives and a way to recieve divine light. Anyway, I'm excited to try this all out. If anyone has any good advice, books, etc. about meditation please let me know. I definitely could use the help!

HOLY SNOW!!!

Hello snow!!  So it must have snowed at least 3 feet today!  Although people hate it when I say this... I love it!!  I must admit it frightens me to no end to drive in it, but I don't think there is anything more fun than waking up to a ton of beautiful fresh snow!  These are the kind of days when I want to do nothing but watch fun movies, read good books while wrapped up in a blanket and drink hot chocolate all day long.  It's so cozy... I love it!  I must admit the reality of a bunch of snow as well.  Matt and I came home to find our driveway completely blocked by the snow that the snow plow pushed in front of our house.  (You'll notice in the picture the line of cars that were prevented from pulling into their driveway as well.)  I'm still wondering why the snow plow guy would do that.  It seems when you are learning how to remove snow you would make sure that you are making the driving conditions better by pushing the snow out of people's way, rather than in their front yard!  Anyway, another good thing about snow days are that people are stuck inside, so you usually receive some fun e-mails.  My friend Nicole sent me this link and I thoroughly enjoyed it!   http://public.aregner.com/bubblewrap.swf

Starting up!!

So, I've decided to join the blogging world!  I have made it one of my New Year's resolution to keep it updated, so I am going to try really hard!  To start out I've decided to tell you 5 things that you may not know about me.

1.  I have about a million nervous habits.  To name a few... I wiggle my legs all of the time, fidget with my hair, face and nails, chew on the inside of my cheek, twist my earrings around, straighten out my shirt, and quite a few more.  I think it must run in my family, and although it sounds weird, I'm not crazy!

2.  I think I have a little bit of OCD.  I love to organize things and crave the feeling of satisfaction after I have dejunked something or cleaned it up.

3.  I love dancing and wish I had more opportunities to do it.  Actually, I have talked Matt into taking dance lessons with me this year, so if any of you know of any good places or want to do it with me (hint, hint, Aleesha)  let me know.

4. I LOVE Disneyland and would love to live there!  Two of my other favorite places are Kauai and Tallinn, Estonia.

5.  I really love ASL (American Sign Language). I studied it in college and really gained a great love for the deaf community.  Although I haven't kept up on it and have forgotten quite a bit, I hope to find ways to refresh my signing.

I would love to hear something interesting about you guys, so make a comment.  Although I feel like we all know each other really well, it seems like these fun facts are often missed!
